A few of my friends have understood references here and there about a very moving song, "M" by my friend Chantal. When Sylvie first got sick, Chantal yelled at me and told me this song had nothing to do with Sylvie because the song is about a child who was going to die. Period. And Sylvie wasn't supposed to die, therefore I needed to stop dwelling on it.
Sadly, unfortunately that is not the case. The greatest gift we all had was that Sylvie conquered cancer and we all enjoyed our own little honeymoon while Sylvie got to be a perfect, normal, little girl again. In any case, I've reprinted the lyrics below. We may not have been making plans to go to the moon although we were planning on bringing Sylvie to Disney in April.
Chantal Kreviazuk "M"
They must mean business
To say there's nothing worse
Then to let your precious love child
Leave the planet first
'Cause, oh whoa whoa
They've gotta just let her go
All the things that you swear you're gonna do
Reservations on the next train to the moon
Pack your things cause there ain't no time lose
And all the things you never ...
So I think we're gonna have to record her
Sometimes against her will
We're gonna keep her alive with black and whites
Colour moving and still
And then, oh whoa whoa
We've gotta just let her go
All the things that you swear you're gonna do
Reservations on the next train to the moon
Pack your things cause there ain't no time to lose
Let her go
Let her go
Let her go
Let her go
All the things that you swear you're gonna do
Reservations on the next train to the moon
Pack your things cause there ain't no time to lose
All the things that you swear you're gonna do
Reservations on the next train to the moon
Pack your things cause there ain't no time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose

ReplyDeleteAudra,
ReplyDeleteI am so very. very sorry for your loss. Although we do not know each other, I wanted to offer you my condolences and my support - for you and your family. Most people cannot imagine the pain that you are going through but I do, because I've been there. Don't hesitate to call on me if you need/want to. You are incredibly courageous and strong. Tonight as I go to sleep, I'll ask my daughter Ella to find Sylvie and give her a big bear hug. Sending you love and peace.
A twin dedication for Princess Sylvie...

Chantal is a friend, who I admire, I heard of your site through her. I'm a father. As a father, I have no words. I'm a writer, as one, I have the wrong words. Your daughter's photo above, she's gorgeous, beautiful. I'm so sorry. I've told few people this, only those I love, but, after years of contemplation, I have decided to put down my pen, and study medicine, I begin in 2010. I'll think of Sylvie as I make my way. I'm going to do what I can, what I've always known I should be doing, to make sure less tears are shed, my own included. God Bless You and Your Family, Xo ESS
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams, Princess Sylvie. We only met you once, at a party in September - you looked beautiful in your princess dress, as you danced and watched the other princesses. Your story, too short, is just heartbreaking, and our most sincere prayers and thoughts go to your Mom & Dad, as they go through this, the toughest part yet. God Bless you and your family.
