Sylvie's eating is officially back ON as she continues to eat insane quantities of high-cal mac n cheese and Barbara's "Fig Newtons." Every day she's getting stronger and stronger and although we had really hoped she'd be her normal self by now, we realize that every day is really a gift and equally important, Sylvie dances to the beat of her own drum and when she feels like walking unassisted, trust me, she will.
Lucy was spayed and had her eye surgery this week so it's a little challenging having a walking & wounded & sedated huge puppy wearing a giant plastic cone around her head (that Sylvie calls her "helmet"). Sylvie is especially sympathetic to her.
Early this morning, Sylvie (after eating a bowl of mac n cheese) demanded we all go outside for a walk while she pushed her stroller and baby. We leashed up Lucy and headed up the driveway. The pavement was covered with earthworms from all the rain which had both Sylvie and me grossed out. Sibel came outside around 8 am and they walked over to Samantha's house.
Sylvie was so tired that she came home and demanded a nap before 11 am. Post-nap and after more mac n cheese, we met my parents at the Preakness Pool so that Sylvie could show me her moves in the pool. She was so excited and proud. I had to put a lot of sunblock on her nearly bald and very shiny head!
Having a week free of blood tests was AMAZING. We'll be back at the Reuten Clinic on Monday for lab work and so the game begins again.
